precious

I went to Borders last night before going to the Mission. I text C to let her know I was thinking of picking up sapphire's novel PUSH. The book is now a major motion picture called Precious. I remember that first time I heard of the film. On the other line, a voice cracked and I feel everything shaking. Tears falling. The connection deep I swear I felt the water flow from one end, and hit my right cheek. The only word that I understood was "Oprah."

Eventually, what I learned was that Oprah had produced this indie film that was showcasing at Sundance. I clicked on the trailer that I found on Oprah's website and couldn't even get through it. Months have passed since then, and now I'm reading the book. The film isn't being shown in many theaters. I am challenged reading it, but believe books come into your life for a reason. Like people.
